I actually did it – and I am going back again. Barry (my pilot) and I had quite a time up there in the clouds. hehehe.Continue Reading
Hang Gliding ???
Well tomorrow is the day I try it again, always weather permitting! I have been watching Youtube hangliding videos for the past 2 weeks and now I am like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa! I want great weather and I’m and dreaming of flying.
I will definitely have to plan a second outing though, regardless of what happens tomorrow, because I just got an email from the GoPro people and they have just launched the GoPro Hero2! Continue Reading
Worse than a hang glider crash
Well, I didn’t crash my hang glider – the flights were cancelled because of the high winds. 🙁 Continue Reading
Steve Jobs
“There is no reason not to follow your heart. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.” – Steve Jobs
There’s a bigger bite out of the Apple apple today. With Steve Job’s death, Apple has lost some of it’s shine.
I suppose we all know that the day would come, just as we in Canada knew when we saw Jack Layon’s “time out” press conference just weeks before he died too. But you never really want to acknowledge those morbid thoughts. If you’ve been reading the blog for any lenght of time, you know I am not an Apple fan except for my iPhone. But that doesn’t mean I don’t get Apple. I do.
The imagination made tangible. The dream made real. I don’t doubt that Apple as a company will continue on, but look what happened the first time Steve Jobs departed…
So it’s as good a time as any to reflect on what the loss of any loved person means to our world, whether it’s a family, a circle of friends, a city or a business. I’ll be reflecting.
Many people in my sphere are afflicted with cancer, other diseases, depression, or even just age – and we all know that we are all going to leave this world at some point, and it will always be to soon. I hug you all today, and hope you are all here for the long term.
Bye to Steve Jobs, and to paraphrase Douglas Adams, a favourite author, “So long and thanks for all the stuff!”
Harvest Moon
Driving home the other night I stopped to admire the huge and stunning harvest moon floating above the prairie dusk. I sat on the edge of the highway for a good 15 minutes watching the slow ascent into the heavens, soon to succumb to the storm clouds competing for skyspace.Continue Reading
What makes a fine art photograph?
This was the question put to an esteemed panel of art experts last night at Pixels Gallery. What followed was a captivating, if not cerebral, discussion of the question.Continue Reading
Let’s Catch Up, Anywhere
All the big photographers and marketing experts are talking about the Mobile Web. Delivering content to customers and clients when they are on the go.
I’ve talked here before about QR codes and how to use them, and I absolutely believe they are the future. Along with these links to the print world, it’s essential to have a special mobile website that presents your most urgent messages and offers to your clients when they are “out & about.”
With this in mind, I’m testing a new Mobile version of the blog. Simply view the blog on your smart phone and turn on the mobile version with the button at the bottom of the page.
If this works well, I’m going to make a mobile version of the site as well, with just the criteria photography information you need when your out at a shoot or away from your desk. Better than an app!
What do you think of mobile content? Let me know your ideas and comments.
Linked in to the long ago
“Are you on Linkedin?” It’s what I hear a lot these days, out-numbering “Are you on Facebook?” 2 to 1! Linked in is like Facebook for grownups. It’s supposed to be for business networking but it’s a good way to reconnect with your “rollodex” as well as old contacts and colleagues from your past. Once in a while you’ll get a surprise.Continue Reading
