What to do?

The Professional Photographers of Canada National Convention is coming up. I will be entering some images again as usual.  But the question I'd like your advice on is:

Should I submit images and try for Photographer of the Year again? Or just sumbit, and "rest on my laurels?"  I  have about 2 weeks to get the photos together, I have one done, and 2 half done.  I need to find a fourth. POY requrires 4 images in different categories, which for me is always a struggle because so much of my work is in the same subject areas. But I'd value your opinion...

Delicate Spring

I awoke to mist and fog, so dense you could see it moving, like an alien beast, huffing and puffing and snaking its way through the neighborhood. Inbetween puffs,  I could see the landscape was shrouded in hoar frost, that delicate powdering of ice and frozen alien breath.

A good day to get outside.

Even though I rushed to get going, by the time I hit the road, the sun was up and the blue sky had defeated the interloping mist. But the frost was still breathtaking.

Just because...

Last Thursday I paid a visit to my friend Dawn at Willow Lane Flowers in Oakbank. We had a great chat and when I left she gave me 24 stunning white roses that looked like a soft silk globe!

They've been delighting my dining room table for over a week and they still look phenomenal. Here's some "before" shots.

Monday I will have some "afters" for you.  The won't look anything remotely like this  

So as Dawn likes to say, why give someone flowers? "Just becasue..."    So this bud's for you!

Nikon Rumors and a true story

Hey, how was your weekend?

I heard a juicy Nikon rumour...Nikon has scheduled a press conference on March 8.  Are they going to announce a new camera? My wish would be for a full frame D800, or whatever the next generation full frame non Dx format will be.

On Friday I got an exciting letter, so a new camera might be a nice little "reward."  The letter?

5 rings and gold, but it looks a little purple on my monitor...

Go Canada - did you see that speedskater, Christine Nesbitt go!? Wow, I would have loved to been there with a 1000mm telephoto lens!

Apparently today is my birthday so I am going to make an investment in a better monitor calibration tool to celebrate! I have been reviewing several including the Pantone Huey. Next week I'll let you know which one I picked and how it works.
