Too bad I missed the heat wave back at home. BC was cool and wet, a bit surprising for someplace that is supposed to be a desert!

In the northern hemisphere, spring is rolling out exactly as it should, and along with it is the promise of a new infrared photography season. As soon as the foliage leafs out and the grass is green is the perfect time to get your converted infrared camera out of the gadget bag, or dust off the old Hoya or B&W filters.
Here’s a quick tip sheet for preparing your gear for fantastic infrared shooting excursions:
First Fridays at Pixels 2.1 was so much fun! Thank you to you all who came out to see the Pixels 2.1 Gallery and to learn a little about digital infrared photography.

I’m not sure when you’re leaving for the holidays, so here’s my wish for you today.
Make it the best Christmas ever, don’t forget about your pets, and make a donation to your favourite charity.
If you forget about the commercial aspect of the season, the intention of this time of year is pretty amazing. And even if it is just for a few hours, we all put our differences behind us, open up our hearts to peace, remember the past, look forward to the future; and one day maybe the spirit of Christmas will remain with all of us all year round.

A relatively new event in Winnipeg is First Fridays in the Exchange. It’s a great opportunity to visit with artists and galleries, as well as the boutiques and cafes in the Exchange District. Everyone opens up for public tours! It’s fun.
Pixels Gallery goes one step further and has special mini-events to make it even more fun and a bit educational too.
I’ll be there giving a short presentation on how to take Infrared Photographs on January 7th – the first Friday of 2011! It’s FREE! It starts at 7:00, till 7:45 with questions and answer after. Come on in for a chat, learn a thing or 2, bring your camera – we’ll be doing free camera tests to see if your camera is capable to taking IR photos.
