I’m still feeling overwhelmed by winning Manitoba Photographer of the Year on Friday night! Especially being in the running with Marlene Fast, a lifelong professional photographer and amazing artist. She has been a tremendous inspiration to me since I met her, both from a business and personal perspective.Continue Reading
Manitoba Photographer of the Year!
Quite a shocker! Seriously, I had not a single person in any of my winning photos so they were definitely not protraits or wedding photos. But yet I managed to win Manitoba Photographer of the Year.
You’ve seen the thumbnails but later today I’ll post the full size images here. Once I stop shaking 🙂 Or if you’re in a hurry to see them drop by my Facebook Page, they are posted there too (be sure to like my Page while you’re there!)
Well, now I’m off to the city to celebrate – hmmmm, a new lens? a new bag???
More to come.
Warning: Shameless self promotion ahead…
Friday night is the PPOC Manitoba Awards Banquet. Why not cast your vote for your fav? See how you compare to the judges ranking. Continue Reading
Yes!
Let me say that I am now officially inspired – yes! Totally amazing how it all works. Ask and you will recieve. All true. 🙂
Along with this surge of new imagination that I have now been instilled with, spring arrives this weekend and I am more motivated than ever to create 3 competition images in 5 days. Talk about waitng till the last minute – oh well good things are worth waiting for…so they say.
Hope you have plans to welcome the new season on Sunday and all that the goodness of summer will bring. OOooh, summer! Infrared photography season is almost here.
Yes!
Have a good one!
Going for Gold
The PPOC National Image salon submission deadline is on the 23rd!! I have one image to submit but I need another 3 – yikes.
I know one will be great (heheh!) but I wast another 3 great ones to submit as well. Am I being greedy? I know I already won Canadian Photographic Artist of the Year in 2009. But I think I can do it again, I’m fueled by the great results at the provincial Salon. (The Awards Banquet is next week so I may have some news about that too.)
But I need to create 3 outstanding images in less than a week – where is my lucky friend hiding? I could use some of that old inspiration again.
The big move
Not an earthquake but almost as monumental a move! I have boxes and I am in full “throw out mode.” It’s all going. Yes, I’m finally preparing for the big move.
Looking forward to this being the last winter in this place. Right now all that’s going trashward are books – if you want books let me know, but otherwise they are going to be donated to the Book Fair. I am really getting into this now 🙂
As my friend Burton once said, “So long Bannatyne (and Albert)!”
Monochrome world
Went for Sunday brunch and a hike with the Rottweiler. The landscape of trees and snow recalls the contrasty monochrome scenery that made Ansel Adams a legend. Not a colour to be found.Continue Reading
It’s a winner
Remember the image I created a few weeks back for the provincial image salon, when I was inspired by the weird way in which the universe works, after bumping into that old friend? It was loosely about chaos theory and the interconnectedness and infinite nature of time and space. I was seeking suggestions for a title.
