The owners are far away for just a few days, but their adorable pooch couldn’t go along. And you know me, the worlds most insane dog lover, I couldn’t say no when they asked if I would dog sit for a few days.
Looking after someone else’s dog is easy to do, but for the dog it is a stress inducing nightmare. The poor dogs miss their pack. Their leader is gone and that makes them insecure, scared and despondent. With this dog, her look each time I leave the room – is “Wait – don’t go! Don’t leave me, you’re the only one in this room that can open the bag of food for me!?
I showed her an iPhone photo of her people – “I miss you” she howled! Seriously, the plaintif wail was almost that intelligible!
I took her for a long walk at sunset – taken on my iPhone of course. The sun was setting just above the end of the road – and the dog kept looking back to see if her people were coming too. 🙁

I’m gonna remove that leash, I think it will make a cool photo.
Here’s another one of the neighborhood at sunset, bathed in the blushing light of the setting September sun. That still warm afterglow, as the sun slips beneath the treeline, brushing the skin of the earth with that one last kiss of light.
Summer I miss you already.
Then me and the dog went back home, each of us missing some things.
