Too busy to type a URL into your computer? Too many buiness cards to sort/scan? Or maybe you forgot to pack your cards? Or just need to organise stuff? I have a cool tool for you!Over the holidays when I launched my Gift Gertificates for photographers (for classes, course and programs offered at nature-photography-central.com) I discovered a WP plugin that uses QR codes to verify the authenticity of the gift certificates. This way they can only be used once, and even though you get them by email which makes it easy to distrtibute, print and copy etc. the QR code gets verified when you present it and I can check if it’s been used before. It’s really cool for all sorts of digital delivery systems.
So I am quite enamoured of the potential of ths QR technology. Add the QR code for your website on your business cards to direct people to your site effortlessly. Do you have an iPhone? (Of course you do!). Get the free QR reader app here.
Here’s a great example. Simply open your QR app and align it with the code. Wait for your iphone to lock in (it will vibrate when it does) and read the message on your iphone screen. Don’t worry, it’s a safe for work message 🙂
Add the QR code on your business card and when someone scans it, it will automatically get added to your contacts. Sweet! As long as you have one card, you can share your info with anyone who has a smart phone.
On the fun side, you can have big QR codes printed on tee shirts (got mine from zazzle!). People can scan your shirt to see your message, or to get your contact info.
Wasn’t it also col that “back in the day” people would simply print their message ON their tee shirts?!
It’s almost like the aliens HAVE implanted chips in us all!!! Except the chips info is external not internal. Where will this all take us? No more converations, official introductions? Just a bunch of people buzzing round with little black bricks and odd stares?!
For now it’s just fun and an easier way to collect and store your info.
