It might not be warm, but it’s hot
Smack in the middle of winter on the prairies. Frigid, car exhaust freezes instantly into fog so thick you can’t see the vehicle in front of you…
RIP Kodachrome
Paul Simon pleaded …”don’t take my Kodachrome away!” but now it’s gone.
The last procesing lab in the world is shutting down because they’ve run out of the processing chemicals and Kodak is no longer making them. One dedicated photographer paid over $15,00o this week to have his last 1480 rolls (!) processed before the machine is sold for scrap.

Give something powerful for Christmas
Do you know how much difference a small loan could make to someone’s small business?

Expose yourself more – snow photography tips
Yes, I mean it. You need more exposure!
With winter in full force in much of the world, I thought I’d give you a reminder about the pitfalls of winter photography and a few snow photography tips that have really helped me.
Happy Thanksgiving
For all my American friends, have a great Thanksgiving.
Live in the moment as much as you can, be grateful for for all you have, hug your dog, and have fun!
These holidays are the best time to get out with your family and friends with a camera in hand to record the festivities. If you’re feeling sleepy after that turkey dinner, take a walk, take your camera.
Have a really good extra long weekend!
Sunset of Sunrises
If you have always wanted to shoot fantastic sunrises, now has never been a better time.
Two reasons:
1) it’s still relatively warm in the morning – nothing that a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate won’t fix!
2) Sunrise happens at a very civilized time (here in the north anyway) so even for the very “lazy” photographers among us, there is no pain in getting up at 6:00 to be shooting at 7:30.
In the next few weeks the temps will be dropping making early morning shooting rather unpleasant. So much for shooting the sunrise.
There have been a few gorgeous sunrises this week. So make a plan to shoot at least one autum sunrise in the next few days. Post your results on the site.
I”m doing ealy morning photography all weekend so Monday I’ll share mine with you.
Have an amazing weekend!
Teachers Conference
Next week I’m conducting 2 seminars for the big Teachers Conference here on Friday. Teaching teachers, oh my!!!
We’ll be covering how to do infrared photography with digital cameras, and in the afternoon, I’ll be demonstrating how to make the “small world” panoramas.
