So…what the heck is happening?! I deeply hope you and your family and friends are safe and sound as this pandemic washes across the globe.
It’s a sad state of affairs when the default “perspective” of so many is that this is all government plot of some kind, like there is a bald-headed evil genius in an underground bunker somewhere playing Bach fugues on a pipe organ and laughing maniacally…
I take a more optimistic view. I posted this comment on another platform:
For young people who may not have experienced their first global crisis, I’d just say that every generation has some big event that scares the shit out of us all. The Great Depression, WW II, The Cuban Missile Crisis, Cold War, 9/11. 2008 Financial Crisis, And now COVID-19.
For each event, people said life will never be the same. But here we are in 2020, survivors of all of these unprecedented events that went before. We got through them because of the strength of the believe that we CAN get through it. We all acted as a community to help those who got intimately caught in the firefights.
Our jobs may be curtailed and our sense of participation in life seems diminished but think of this as an opportunity to bond with family in they are under your roof, create art, music or stories – try to become a creator rather than a consumer. On my daily solo walks and hikes I am bringing my camera and capturing the beautiful that still persists all around us, my attempt at creating peace in my own mind and perhaps an inspiring image or two along the way. It’s my daily reminder to my self that once again this too shall pass.
Love and peace to you and all your friends and family.
