Ah yes, spring and the end of May. It’s finally here, that bit of warmth, longer days and promise of what comes next. And hopefully it’s all good news.
With all the crazy stuff going on in the world, I’ve trained myself to treasure every day, and to be grateful for each hour.
I was one of the first of my group of friends to hit a milestone birthday this year. A few whose “big days” were a few days after mine were depressed, sad, and quite upset that they we ‘getting old.” They asked me how I felt.
But my reply was that I felt great – I’ve made it this far, I have done so many weird and wild things; had a few cool accomplishments, taken a few larger than normal risks and everything turned out pretty good.
I think taking each day in on its own terms, going with the flow, having plans and goal for the future, and lots of good friends help in dealing with the existential questions about getting “old”.
Besides, there is no one on the planet that is not inching towards the end so we are all getting OLD! Do you feel like you’re getting “old?” – what ever the heck that actually means anyway!!
Here’s a photo of why it is a non-issue for me, and why I am grateful to have had as many years as i have had and am wanting to get OLDER to have even more years to celebrate.
So make it a great day – everyday!
