I had dinner last night with some girls I have known since grade 6! We have recently all reconnected and have been getting together for the past few years. It’s really fascinating how different but still the same everyone is. I think we all look pretty much the same, easy enough to match us to our yearbook photos for sure.
And time has contoured the personalities, carved a bit more deeply into the idiosyncrasies, made bolder the quirks and talents, and faded and softened the sometimes harsh attributes we all possess as teenagers. But in our essence we are all the same.
The years may have
weathered our outward facades, but our hearts and souls are still and will be forever held in the hands of youthful days gone by. It’s been much the same with most of my old friends whose paths have once more crossed. It’s a delightful phenomenon. We all feel like we should be young forever. Nothing has changed and our friendship picks up right where it left off.
We do not succumb to thinking we are “old.” We all say, I feel like I’m still 20 or still 30… My 93 year old grandmother used to complain that she had to hang out with the “old people” in her senior’s block! Most of them were years younger than she was. It’s all in the attitude right? And besides, its good to be still crazy after all these years. A good team – young & crazy!
Then you can blame your craziness on your age and no one will think twice – play the game at both ends!! LOL
I know we may not be young forever but we will be forever, young.
