Well, it seems like months since I’ve slept. With caring for my old boy Baron, and catching up on work-related projects I am exhausted. But then that proverbial door opened….
I found Troy. Troy is a 9 year old Rottie, his owner died and the family took him to the vet to put him down. The vet called the shelter. And then I found him.
So despite his age (10 seems to be close to the max for Rotties), he is back in school and learning to live in my life for trips and camping and strange environments on a weekly basis. Baron was so chill – he had incredible manners and behavior – Troy on the other hand has excellent manners but his past haunts him and he needs work. I have been spending most of my time training. He is a good boy – very smart, super sensitive, and just a bit insecure. And leaving me sleepless… with a dog in kennel training!
Am I crazy to devote so much time to an old boy like Troy? Somedays I think I should just leave him be – he’s old. He deserves peace and quiet. But most of the time I think he’d love to see the mountains, and hike them with me. And to do that, he needs to know how my world works. So far we are both having a blast!
Meet Troy.
