Last week I got a surprise royalty cheque from a stock photo agency that represents me. They sell a selection of my photos for use in advertisements; to supplement magazine articles; for use on websites etc. They had sold one of my travel photos for a book cover and send some money. Nice!
Normally I never know who buys the images. The agency doesn’t provide me with that information, but then I got an email from the buyer inquiring about the shot. So I found out about his book and grabbed a pic of the full cover. The shot was taken while I was in St Andrews Scotland in 1985. It was just one of those tourist shots of the cool old buildings and cobblestone streets. Who knew it would be good for a book cover! This is why using some of your images as stock photos is a good idea.
Then I got a call from a client who also also needed a photo for a cover of a book. What a week. It was a science fiction story so I dug into my catalog and found what i thought was a great shot.
Here are the before and afters. I love photography – money for nothing and clicks for free.
