So I arrived in the dark, feeling sad, mad, and cold. All firsts for an arriving in the valley of heaven.
Another first, my dad was not there to greet me at the airport. But the mission had to forge on
Despite my stupidity of leaving/losing my drivers licence on the plane, and now denied a rental car, and having the unexpected surprise of having to shovel a foot of snow, I have managed to accomplish 60% of my to do list.
My neighbours here are amazing , took me to Safeway at 8 pm to get food, let me borrow a van, brought me a big mug of coffee…much more a testament about my parents’ impact on them, than on mine. But having “instant” friends in a rather isolated community is a gift!
A collector from Kelowna bought much of my mother’s furniture and hauled it away the second day I was here. The contractor rearranged his schedule to ensure that all the repairs and renos would be done before I leave, and everyone else, so far that I am relying on to help me on this mission has come through.
I do have to say that spending time here alone is very strange, no people no dog, just a mile long to do list and only a few days.
Here are a few quick pics so far.
I walked up yo the diner on the highway for supper. When I left the sun was setting:
