Most people thinkthat spring and early summer are the prime time for flowers. But last summer/autumn also has an incredible display of floral treats. While on one of my woods walks, I counted about 12 different flowering plants – and those were only the ones that I could name – I’m sure there are many more. I wanted to capture the “everlasting” colour and sparkle these “late bloomers” add to the natural garden of the woods. From purple asters, to prairie sunflowers, to the stark stalks of the spring blossoms, they are all great photo fodder! These are the seed pods of the prairie sunflowers that bloomed earlier in the summer, in a couple of antique bottles – one I found in the attic of an old house! (the one with the cork still in it!)
I have several more old bottles that I’m pairing up with the autumn flowers I think thy will look amazing! A tribute to time.
