All I can say is the app works great – Solar Monitor confirmed Chris’s head’s up, that an Aurora this weekend was going to happen. And it did, and HOW!
I had to fight with the headlights of a hundred cars though because my neighbors kid had his wedding (outdoors) last night – of all night! So you know that even at 2 am, there we people coming and gong and the traffic on my usual sleepy road was like the trans Canada highway on May long weekend! But the good part of an outdoor wedding was the partiers had great taste in music, so i was groovin’ with my gear out on the road, enjoying SIGHTS and SOUNDS.
Here are a few of my better shots. Oh yeah, I started shooting around 12:30 pm (right after the first twilight Zone, which I’d seen before anyway) and finally came back inside at 2:30 – I could have kept on going – there were no mosquitos, it was warm and definitely beautiful, but my batteries were dying, and the partiers next door kept coming out to their cars – headlights on (?) and I was spending more time waiting for them to leave than I was photographing Mother Nature’s lightshow. But I do know the best exposure for these northern lights, is 2 choruses of Moonlight Mile (Rolling Stones) !!!
