After I did an early morning shoot with some amazing dogs, I headed up to Selkirk to see the ruins of the MS Lord Selkirk II. Surrounded by a ghastly construction fence, I was more than tempted to slip through an open spot, to to actually board the wreck (although I would have loved to!), but to get a clear shot past the intruding fence! My planning was bad because despite arriving on a week day fairly early in the afternoon, there was a Rodeo (!!!?) in progress right next door and there were people and copsĀ like flies on rice. I didn’t want to get caught trespassing in such a public way.
I had all three cameras with me (four if you count my iPhone – which I didn’t use) – D300 with the 12-24mm wide angle, the D800 with the 70-200VR, and my old converted D70 for infrared.
Here’s one of the shots of the “ghost ship.”
I had to hang my camera over the top of the fence and push my face up to the “holes” in the fence so I could compose. I tried live view but it wasn’t working as well as this method. This is a 5 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro, and touched up with Lucis ED.
I”ll post the colour version too.
