I just found out I’m a finalist for Manitoba Photographer of the Year for 2012!!! A splendid bit of news, since I used my “secret weapon” for most of the photos I submitted. Also I do know that one of my images scored Excellent, and another was Accepted. The scores of the last two are still to come but I have heard rumours that one was at least Merit and the other was Accepted or Merit.
I did attend the Salon Judging in the afternoon and loved the debate amongst the Panel. You really understand how subjective this all is when 5 very accomplished photographers with eons of experience rate a photo all the way from Excellent to Not Accepted! The rationale and debate is so informative, and even entertaining, after a few of these Salons one can almost create images specifically for the judging panel, since as humans, they all have their preferences and personal biases. I really think that the commentary is by far the best part of the PPOC experience. It needs to be a reality show!!!
So that’s one thing that’s keeping me in suspense – did I or didn’t I?. There won’t be any news till the 31st – at the Awards Banquet. Of course I’ll let you know what happens 🙂 Follow me on twitter for real time results.
AND, more exciting for me, the shipping date of the new Nikon D800 is fast approaching…just my bad timing as usual, as I am working on a big project for the Federal Government and there is a hard deadline so I won’t have too much time to play 🙁 till after May 30th when the contract ends.
I’ll post the salon images after the Nationals. heheheh!
