No it’s not my prophesy of doom…but if you’re interested, and as a photographer you should be, 🙂 there’s going to be a total eclipse of the moon this weekend.
If you like to sleep in on the weekend this won’t be the eclipse for you, but it’s not so early that you’ll be up in the middle of the night. It starts at 5:34 am, with totality (the moon being completely in shadow) at 8:06 am on Saturday morning, just before dawn. It should be a spectacular sight! Its position in the sky and the time of day will make it appear bright red and supersized.
Face west to see the blood red moon sinking into the horizon as the sun rises behind your back. It’s a rare way to begin your day. It`s kind cool to know that so many people will be `focusing` on the sky all at the same time, we will be all watching it together. Won’t you join me?
It will be also visible from all of Asia and Australia, seen as rising over eastern Europe, and setting over northwest North America. In the Philippines & Malaysia, the lunar eclipse is visible just after sunset.
Whether you do the eclipse or not, enjoy your weekend!
