With the extra hours of daylight at this time of year, what are you going to do with it all? 11:30 and there’s still a hint of light in the sky! It makes it easy to stay up all night when night is only 5 hours long. Photograph the night sky? Or take advantage of the additional sun, what ever it is it’s bound be be good.
I was able to finally shoot some infrared this past weekend, and was inspired by a doe and her fawn as we surprised each other when I walked out to have my morning coffee on the deck – now that the robins have left I have it back. I came around the corner to catch the sun and there she was not more that 10 feet away from me, with the fawn, still covered in the spots, even closer to me!
We both stopped in our tracks and stared at each other. I’m not sure who was the most surprised. After having the standoff with the mule deer and her fawn in BC last summer, not only did I not want to scare her I didn’t want to appear aggressive in case she came after me!So I didn’t move for about 3 minutes and neither did they. So cool.
No, no images of this happy coincidence. I was very content just to enjoy the moment, as they both calmly and quietly turned and slowly made their way to the pond. That fragment of an interaction was truly a little gift. And it made my weekend!
