More reasons to love the iphone and WordPress – they both support geotagging which means that if you’re using these tools, you can now record the location of your special photo site automatically and post them from your iPhone to your WordPress blog where they can be viewed on a map. Sharing great photo locations has never been easier, plus for the scientific stock photos I shoot, I can track and tag using the iPhone and with some additional free software geotagtag the images from my Nikon D300 (more details about this in a future article).
This weekend, I came across a gravel pit with some really nice hiking trails, and explored it a bit and wanted to “remember” exactly where it was for future reference. OK, so the photo is not great (!) but if you click the link below the image where it says …Anola... Selkirk…you’ll see the Google map of exactly where this photo is! You can switch to Satellite view to see the terrain from Google Earth – great for planning your photo excursions!
Say I find an awesome site to shoot the sunset on Moraine Lake in the Rockies and want to share the exact location with you, all I do is shoot the image on my iPhone send it to the blog where it appears here. Get the geotagging WordPress plugin here.
Later I can geotag the D300 image so it too has a permanent record of where it was shot.
