I’m selling my backup Nikon D300 – it’s in perfect condition. Both the sensor and body are pristine. This camera has only 9416 shutter actuations since it’s a back up and Continue Reading
PPOC Image Salons are approaching
My main computer succumbed to a 7 hour power outage, fortunately unlike other power failures this one only fried the network card. I’ve been shuttling files back and forth to my laptop for storage in the cloud. Continue Reading
365 Special Occasions
It’s a strange propensity, we humans have, for making note of these things we have come to call “special occasions.”
Marking an anniversary, a birthday, or another special date seems to be a cross cultural ritual. Maybe it comes from our ancient ancestors who would use the sun and moon to track seasons, food supplies and times to move to follow the food. And to ensure a consistent life, they’d remember that particular place of the sun or moon in the sky and repeat as necessary. Which leads back to where we started, coming full circle.Continue Reading

Today I received the official announcement that the Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) has accepted me to be one of their photographic artists, with works on display at their big Gala fundraiser in January.
Steve Jobs
“There is no reason not to follow your heart. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.” – Steve Jobs
There’s a bigger bite out of the Apple apple today. With Steve Job’s death, Apple has lost some of it’s shine.
I suppose we all know that the day would come, just as we in Canada knew when we saw Jack Layon’s “time out” press conference just weeks before he died too. But you never really want to acknowledge those morbid thoughts. If you’ve been reading the blog for any lenght of time, you know I am not an Apple fan except for my iPhone. But that doesn’t mean I don’t get Apple. I do.
The imagination made tangible. The dream made real. I don’t doubt that Apple as a company will continue on, but look what happened the first time Steve Jobs departed…
So it’s as good a time as any to reflect on what the loss of any loved person means to our world, whether it’s a family, a circle of friends, a city or a business. I’ll be reflecting.
Many people in my sphere are afflicted with cancer, other diseases, depression, or even just age – and we all know that we are all going to leave this world at some point, and it will always be to soon. I hug you all today, and hope you are all here for the long term.
Bye to Steve Jobs, and to paraphrase Douglas Adams, a favourite author, “So long and thanks for all the stuff!”
I’m shattered. (profanity alert)
Some redneck down the road shot the family of Bears. 🙁Continue Reading
