I conducted this test with a cheap mono microphone with a 10-12ft cord. The D7000′s built in stereophonic microphone is a quality mic but, being in the body and having the AF 18-105 Nikon DX lens auto-focusing, the internal mic picks up noise generated by the lens when it focuses. Conclusion: Use a remote microphone at least 10ft from the camera and you will not hear the lens noise.
